My love for photography was born in 2000 when I had just turned 18. My grandmother had given me my first camera for my birthday - a Kodak Star 110. The pictures were terrible, but I had such an amazing time with that camera. For the next several years, I used that camera to take pictures of everything from flowers, to back yard critters, and everything that would be still long enough for me to snap the shutter.
When I was in college (circa 2002 and NOT for photography), I was given my first DSLR as a gift. Amazed at the transformation that technology presented going from film to digital photos, I started to soak up as much information as I could to learn how to use the camera to create images I wanted. In 2013/14 I truly realized how much photography was my passion when I went back to college to take the requires courses to turn my hobby into a profession. I spent an entire academic year doing everything I loved most from shooting and developing film to setting up themed shoots in the school studios to creating highly edited digital images. I take that passion I felt then and carry it forward as the drive that keeps me learning and striving to become a better photographer.
More than two decades have passed since I was shooting with that film camera in my backyard. Now I am a business owner and a busy mom of 3, just striving to make the most out of every opportunity that comes my way.
